Python Coiled Around and Eating Possum

This Coastal Carpet Python was discovered by a client in their garden as it consumed a Possum

This species eats a variety of prey animals throughout their lives including lizards, frogs, rodents, bats, birds and possums. The bigger the snake, the bigger the animal they can effectively capture and consume. Being constrictors, they lack venom and so grasp their prey with sharp teeth and tightly coil around the animal to asphyxiate them.
After the python had finished swallowing the possum, our snake catcher carefully placed it into a bag for relocation.
