Black Snake has a Feast of Frog

The Red Bellied Black Snake is well known for eating frogs, and will also consume lizards, rodents and other snakes. They are venomous but will often consume frogs whole while they’re still alive! As a specialist frog eater, species unfortunately often succumbs to the poison of the introduced Cane Toad.

The Red Bellied Black Snake actually gives birth to live young rather than laying eggs. The young scatter as soon as they are born, and no parental care is given by the female. As youngsters this species are still highly venomous, but will fall prey to birds, lizards and other snakes.
